Her Smile

There are days and moments when I feel I want time to stop 

I want it all to change, I want the sun to stand still 

The feelings are too deep. My fear is too great. 

And then, just one moment comes…

The moment when I see her smile 

Joy springs from my heart, 

My eyes spring forth a tiny tear

The twinkling of her eyes shine at me,

Her teeth peek out of her tiny mouth 

Her dimples squeak,

Her cheeks puff out 

And all I can do, 

Is smile

You may not be mine forever..

You won’t be here in my arms as long as I want 

Tasks are unending,

Doctors visits seem to never stop

The stress of caring for you, 

The fear of one day letting you go

I feel as if I can’t take it, my sweet girl 

But then all the sudden I can breathe,

When I see you smile 

It all is worth it now. I can do it all over again.

Smile again for me, sweet one

Take my tears away

I will die for you over and over again 

I will live for you,

Over and over again 

Those things that make me ache..

The moments that make my heart race 

You take them away 

with just one smile 

I don’t know how many I have 

So I’ll cling to every one 

That smile – that gift from above 

In the midst of nothing right,

All I can do 

Is smile
