They say it’s exciting –

They say I won’t be alone 

Yet here I sit – I’m terrified 

I can’t express myself 

I can’t even lift a pen 

My identity is shifting 

My eyes are softened with tears 

Years I’ve been here 

Yet not a day over there

The people have come,

The friends have gone

A cheerful laugh, 

A warm hug..

They’ve now become a welcome memory –
